Hi i just finished refreshing my Martin t 40 planer. My machine bearings are good but I wonder how do you remove the cutterhead to replace the bearings. I plan to use this machine for a long time so I would like to know that. Maby you have the instructions for it? Maby some of you changed the bearings and know how to do it. I would appreciate any help .

I am also looking for the original dust collection hood for the machine (Photo nr3). Maby you have it somwhere to sell it. I would pay well for it and the instructions

Guuden,

It was one of the best machines of its time!

Call Martin. They're usually very helpful there. It might be a good idea to get someone who speaks German involved.
However, even they might not have experience ore documents with a machine that's over 70 years old.
But any machine fitter should be able to handle it.

It will be nearly impossible to find a hood for it.
But for any sheet metal worker, it's easy to manufacture such a hood.

I just wanted to post here in case anybody would need the information. I have successfully replaced both main bearings in my Martin t40 without outside help. To remove the main cutter head you basically have to take apart the whole left side of the machine including the gearbox. After that you have to unscrew a very wide bearing block which is attached to the feeding shafts as well. I will post some pics below. If anyone needs help with the process contact me below. Greetings Martin :emoji_slight_smile:
