BOOKLAMPs are half-lamp, half-"objet surréaliste". They make you think of artistic influences such as dadaism or surrealism, of the world of Marcel Duchamp and Salvador Dali. Many people have reacted to them saying that they are funny and poetic. We have also heard that they look like something out of the world of Harry Potter. The BOOKLAMPs evoke, with a touch of humour, revered ideas of culture, literature, library… and provoke the rethinking of a mundane object's identity. The BOOKLAMP is a new concept from the self-declared “ex-designer” Martí Guixé (Barcelona 1964). Guixé, whose universe can be described as “beyond” design, is above all, an artist who reflects on situations and behaviours, and who suggests solutions that are radical, iconoclast and fun. BOOKLAMP is one of his very few industrial products. The BOOKLAMPS are also functional lights that introduce state of the art LED technology. They are made of silk-bound, blank paged real books and LEDS, on steel and acrylic parts, and are available in Pendant and Table versions. BOOKLAMPS are exclusively manufactured in Spain by Luján + Sicilia.
