One of Berker's prizes was awarded to the classic, simple rotary switch called Berker Serie 1930 Porzellan made by Rosenthal, with a toggle and centre plate made of Rosenthal porcelain. The jury and visitors of the exhibition agreed: the 1gang frame perfectly sets off the fine shimmer of the surface. An additional plus is that porcelain is non-conductive and notable for its exceptional hardness. The shape and design of the Berker porcelain switch are related to those of its ‘Bauhaus ancestors', but technically the switch contains a series of modern applications. The classic ‘click' sound can also be heard when the rotary switch is operated. This means that the unusual porcelain switch offers a delight to the ear as well as to the eye and the touch.
