LANKADesign Jouko JärvisaloThe Lanka means ”thread” in Finnish. The frame is made of thin, acid-proof steel tube – and the exceptionally thin steel rods in that make up the seat and backrest give the chair the needed stability, seat flexibility and visual expression. The Lanka functions as an architectural element in a collage formed by lights, shadows and its own structure. It is an extension of architecture with which is it easy to modify spaces to make them functional for people. The chair, polished to make it silky, stacks tightly for storage. With its transport trolley, it takes up less than a square metre of space and yet the stack holds seats for forty or so people. The Lanka is included in the permanent collections of the Icelandic Museum of Design and Applied Arts.FACTS of LANKAMaterial high quality acid-proof steelFor outdoor use all year roundDries fast and is “windproof” -> the wind blows through the chairStacks extremely wellTransport trolley for 25 chairsStoring trolley for 40 chairsDetachable linking deviseWeight of the chair 5 kgLANKA TABLE Frame of acid-proof steel tube 25 x 25 mm.
