Delano, Minn. (Nov. 5, 2008) — Landscape Structures Inc. has been named the small and growing company recipient of the Green Award at the 2008 Tekne Awards, which were held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on Oct. 30. The Tekne Awards honor superior technology advancement and leadership in Minnesota.Landscape Structures, located in Delano, is a leading manufacturer of commercial playground equipment. The company has long been dedicated to providing healthier, more environmentally-preferable playgrounds through refining their development and manufacturing processes. Each of its manufacturing facilities hosts a “Green Board,” which is used by employees to post daily updates on environmental challenges and delivers monthly progress presentations to management. The integration of green principles into every level of their business model, from management to manufacturing, has put Landscape Structures at the forefront of environmentally-responsible business processes.“Landscape Structures is honored to be recognized with the Green Award for our commitment to sustainability,” said Pat Faust, president of Landscape Structures. “We have been dedicated to environmental stewardship for more than a decade. We embrace the principles of sustainability, and through those principles create healthier kids, families and communities, and a healthier future for all of us.”The Tekne Awards, presented by the Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) in partnership with Enterprise Minnesota and LifeScience Alley, annually recognize Minnesota's leading technology users and innovators. Tekne Award recipients represent a collection of industry leaders advancing Minnesota's status as a hub for technology innovation.“This year's recipients are outstanding examples of innovation and leadership,” said Kate Rubin, president, MHTA. “Landscape Structures is helping to secure Minnesota's place as a center of innovation in the global economy.”Judges selected one recipient out of the three finalists in each of 17 Tekne Awards categories recognizing the best and brightest in development, education, commercialization and management of technology. Company awards included separate categories for small and growing businesses and established businesses.
