After a three year tour, that from its onset in June 2005 visited major Italian cities such as Naples, Rome, Como, Milan, Ascoli and Bolzano, as well as European cites like Stockholm and Orleans, the “Kengo Kuma. Selected work 1994-2004” exhibit directed by Luigi Alini Researcher for the Syracuse Faculty of Architecture (www3.unict.it/farch), returns home to Syracuse, Italy. The travelling exhibit is the result of collaboration between the Regional Province of Syracuse and the Syracuse Faculty of Architecture, and presents the works of one of the most noted and sensitive interpreters of contemporary projects. The exhibition is transferred to each location using six functional containers that hold Kuma's most representative works from 1994 to 2004. Among these works is the Oribe Pavilion, a ‘soft' and ‘intimate' structure made entirely with polycarbonate alveolar and placed on an illuminated platform of glass blocks by Seves glassblock (www.sevesglassblock.com). The Oribe Pavilion is living evidence on one side, of the patient and experimental research that Kuma (www.kkaa.co.jp) has always conducted with his material, and on the other, of the attention the Florentine company has dedicated to contemporary architecture, supporting its initiatives to promote information and culture. In occasion of the exhibit's return home to where it was first conceived and will now remain, at the Syracuse Faculty of Architecture, Seves glassblock has decided to talk with Luigi Alini, curator of the exhibit and Kengo Kuma's Italian reference.
