Small Windturbines explained. by Ed Boschenaar. What you need-to-know about WindTurbine systems: 1. Wind: One of Natures' most awesome forces. Although usually (read: in 85% of all days a year) there are just low windspeeds of around 5 meters per second or moderate gusts of wind, 15% of the time Violent Storms will be pounding across the lands. There are actually two kinds of wind: Laminar wind and Turbulent wind. Turbulent wind is bad wind, see it as rotating wind blowing in all possible directions. Imagine it as a tornado; turning around-and-around; most unreliable wind that you cannot use. Laminar wind is good wind, flowing from “left to right”. This is the ONLY kind of wind that can be used for 'Harvesting Windenergy'. Wind across our planet is controlled by High-pressure zones and Low-pressure zones, these are ever-changing. Height is a very important factor in Harvesting windenergy: the higher you go up in the air, the more laminar winds there is to Harvest. I am sure that you know that any kind of wind produces sound. So remember that 0dB (no) noise is impossible when using a windturbine. 2. Windturbines: Small Windturbines come in all different shapes and sizes. However seasoned professors specialized in the field state that there are actually only around 25 'good' small windturbines. Main Factors are: Blade system, Generator, Tail, Safety features, The connection to power the Home (or send it to the electricity company, which is called the Grid). We will not zoom in on this > contact us for the full Article ! 3. The Tower (Pole): Intertwined with high Laminar windspeeds, the Tower is actually the most vital feature to Harvesting good windenergy. A structural engineer is actually required if you want to get REAL windenergy Harvested. When you have bought a Quality Windturbine the structural engineer makes the difference between getting a 50% lower Electricity Bill or just the electricity to power just one Lightbulb. There are many different Towers, the most commonly used structures are: Mono-Towers, Tri-pod Towers or Guied Towers (towers with cables attached for stability.) We will not zoom in on this > contact us for the full Article ! Conclusion: It is NOT easy to harvest REAL power from Windenergy as others claim. All factors play an equally important role. When you get the right Wind, Windturbine and The Tower you will have a system that REALLY provides you with the Power of nature as it is meant to be.
