The new 1,144,066-m2 Terminal 1 at Barcelona El Prat Airport is a project by architect Ricardo Bofill. T1 is capable of handling up to 30 million passengers a year and makes this international airport a major hub for the Mediterranean region and Southern Europe.The new Mauro bench installed in the Schengen zone was developed by the Figueras Design Centre (www.figueras.com). The model features a semi-rigid polyurethane seat and backrest that provide a high level of design and ergonomic comfort. The benches require minimum maintenance and are highly resistant to harsh climatic conditions and intensive use.The architectural structure created based on Ricardo Bofill's design combines an international, multicultural character with the abundant light and warm ambience typical of Mediterranean architecture. The building fits in perfectly with the line of the landscape and its layout is highly functional in terms of the way it meets the needs of both passengers and airlines. Natural light features prominently in the areas used by passengers.Figueras has extensive experience providing seating for airports around the world. The firm has installed its products in the waiting areas of airports in northern Peru, at Abu Dhabi International Airport (United Arab Emirates), Mallorca Airport (Balearic Islands, Spain), Pulkovo Airport in Russia, and Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca (Morocco), among many others.
