Chemetal introduces 5 new metal designs for 2009, expressing new variations and new directions in popular classic metals from Chemetal. For example, Chemetal Clear Ambient Aluminum and Chemetal Stainless Ambient Aluminum, available as solid anodized aluminum in .025” thicknesses, are similar in hue to clear brushed and stainless brushed look. However, the graining, as slight as it is, is non -directional, hence the “Ambient” name designation. For design professionals it's a different, slightly textured look that can be more forgiving since the non-linear grain isn't required to run absolutely parallel or perpendicular to nearby design elements. Another new finish, Brushed Smoked Aluminum, an HPL metal laminate, which can be more forgiving for fabrication, is darker, and less reflective, than other metal finishes, making it ideal for the brighter lights of set design, where hot spots are undesirable. For those who are looking for a deeper and richer bronze look, and there are many variations, Chemetal presents Oiled Brushed Bronze, a more fulfilling bronze look on an easy-to-install HPL metal laminate. Finally, Chemetal adds another knockout to their Knockout Series, Mirror Perf. To create we've taken our polished reflective anodized aluminum and added small circular perforations. Since this design is both reflective and transparent, it's ideal for creating layered looks, in commercial interiors and in furniture design. (more . . .) The base aluminum used to produce these two designs contains 85% pre-consumer recycled content, allowing this material to contribute to LEED MR credits 4.1 and 4.2.
