Hans J. Wegner designed CH445,”The Wing Chair”, in 1960. The chair was produced for only a short period in the 1960s. Carl Hansen & Son relaunched the chair in 2006 – after which it immediately wonseveral international design awards.CH445 is an exceptionally comfortable chair that provides excellent support for the back, shoulders, neck and head. The upholstered chair is built on a solid beech frame; its legs are hand-finished silverplate.The accompanying footrest, CH446, uses the same construction principles and materials. These limited anniversary editions are upholstered in an exclusive, 100% aniline leather. Butter-soft and breathable, the leather is through-dyed and not surface treated, so all natural markings are visible.Only 5% of all hides are suitable for use in this grade of leather.Just 100 pairs of these special editions will be made, ever. Attached under each chair and footrest is a sterling silver plate with special edition number.These special editions will be available from October 28, 2008 – Carl Hansen & Son's 100th anniversary. Due to the limited number of available sets, interested dealers are recommended to place their orders well before this date.
